Food Journal

I'm keeping this food journal to help figure out some stomach issues that I'm having.

January 19

Breakfast

I had granola and almond milk.

Noticed some heart burn and burping in the time between breakfast and lunch.

Lunch

I had a few bites of some biscuits and gravy and a very popular biscuits and gravy restaurant.  The food was delicious.

I noticed significant heart burn and burping between lunch and dinner.

Dinner

I ate a very large dinner of macaroni and cheese, bacon and other greasy food including french fries.  The large meal seemed to help the extreme acidity of my stomach and I suffered no further issues through the evening.

January 20

10:00 AM. Breakfast contained almond milk, wheat and sugar.

I noticed no significant heart burn but some minimal burping between breakfast and lunch.
I also noticed the symptoms did seem to worsen very slightly when I laid down around 1:30 pm.  This was several hours after eating.

4:30 PM.  It's been 6.5 hours since I last ate and I'm just now feeling a little bit hungry.
I got up and started making dinner.  I noticed quickly after I got up and started moving around that I was feeling a bit shaky so I had four chocolates (dark chocolate/peanut butter) and several cuties (oranges).

For dinner we had pasta (wheat) and cheese sauce (home made - non-dairy).  I had a small plate of pasta.  Waited ten minutes, had another small plate, waited about thirty minutes and had another small plate.  The first plate of pasta did not make me feel full and I felt no adverse affects.  The second plate also left me feeling satisfied but with no ill effects.  The third plate left me feeling uncomfortably full and I noticed burping afterwards.  No heart burn as of 10:55 PM.  I have had quite a bit of burping and a tiny bit of reflux but nothing serious.

I need to control my portion sizes to determine if control of portion size reduces symptoms of burping and heart burn.

I will have an uncomfortable night and I won't sleep well because I still feel full.  I also consumed a huge number of calories which will be stored as fat.

I need to measure my caloric intake and limit to 1500 calories per day to both control weight gain AND control portions.

As the night wore on I continued to feel too full and I did begin to experience some heartburn and burping.

January 21

For breakfast I ate two cups of whole wheat cereal with almond milk.  The fullness from the night before hadn't completely dissipated.  The fullness had descended to my small intestine.  After eating breakfast I felt satisfied but not over-full in my stomach.  I did experience heartburn and burping over time afterwards, but I believe this was just a continuation of the symptoms from last night's over eating.  Control portion sizes.

It is now 4:11 PM.  It's been at least six hours since I ate, and I can't even imagine eating anything.  I still feel full.  I'm not eating anything until I feel less full.  No BM yet today.    I still feel a bit of heart burn.

5:30 I ate a yogurt.  That's it.  I don't feel comfortable.  I have been experiencing some burping and heart burn.  I don't believe the over-full has worn off.  I'm going to eat minimally until I have a BM.  That means only fluids until morning.

9:30 I had a glass of orange juice.  I noticed significant increase in heartburn and burping after the one half glass.  I still feel full.  I had a very very small BM.  The wait continues.

January 22

I ate 2 cups of shredded wheat cereal this morning with almond milk.  I didn't feel as full and didn't experience heart burn or lots of burping.  It is now 12:30 PM and I have been feeling much better.  At 10:30 I had a more sizable BM.  I am going to try eating a bit more food around 2:30 pm.

1:20.  Another regular size BM.  I am feeling much better.

2:30 I ate a bagel with cream cheese.  That wen't well.  No heart burn or burping.

7:00 I ate a bowl of applesauce.  About 1 cup.  That didn't bother my stomach.  I then ate one half of a large bowl of soup with two slices of buttered toast.  The soup did not contain any protein other than the chicken broth.  I then ate about 1/2 cup of a apple/banana bread - contained wheat and a lot of sugar.  After dinner I felt a bit full, there was some burping and a bit of heart burn.

In the future, 1 CUP of soup, ONE slice of bread and 1/4 CUP dessert.  I am not unbearably uncomfortable.  Only slightly.

January 23

Breakfast at 9:30 - one thick piece of banana bread (wheat, sugar) with almond milk.  Stomach not feeling stuffed afterwards.

As the hours wore away, I did notice slight acidity and burping, but very minimal.

Lunch was at 1:30 and I ate about 1/3 of a large bowl of vegetable soup (no protein but broth).  I ate nothing else.  I have not felt burping or heartburn since I ate it.  It is now 3:00 PM.

Dinner was at 5:30 and I ate a piece of banana bread with almond milk.  I did not feel uncomfortably full afterward.  If anything I felt still hungry, but I refrained from eating more.  I felt okay, but over time I developed moderate heart burn and burping.  I also feel tightness and discomfort in my chest but I believe that is from a previous muscular injury.

January 25

I lost a day in there somewhere.  Nothing bad happened.  I  ate small portions and had no issue with heartburn or burping.

Today I had a square of banana bread and almond milk for breakfast around 9:00 AM.

At 3:00 PM I ate some lunch.  A small bowl of pasta with cashew cheese.  I love that cheese sauce.  It is always hard to be good and not eat more than a small portion.  I did not over eat.  I feel good.  I'm going to have a glass of orange juice.

8:00 PM Getting ready to eat a little dinner.  I am making pasta and using the cashew cheese on it.  I have to behave myself and not eat too much of it or I will feel like crap.  Half a bowl of it at most.

We went to the gym and did the elliptical together for thirty minutes.  I need to remember to drink a bunch of water.

February 1

For breakfast I had a bowl of cereal with almond milk.  For lunch I had a piece of bread with cashew cheese and a container of yogurt and half a glass of orange juice.
